Artist Profile: Jean Weissenborn

My husband and I grew up in Caro, a small town in Michigan’s thumb. Wemoved to Mt. Pleasant where we both attended Central MichiganUniversity. I graduated with a major in art and a minor in English, andtaught both subjects at Bullock Creek High School in Midland County. Mygraduate work was completed in art at Central Michigan University. After we retired, we built our present home on the beautiful Manistee River. We spend our winters in Fort Myers, Florida where I am a member of theFort Myers Beach Art Association. I paint with a group there and amamazed at the variety of talent shown.Recently, I have been doing more experimental work and find this approachintriguing. I like to combine different media such as ink and watercolor aswell as acrylics, colored pencil and various texture mediums. Sometimescollage elements also play a part. Subject matter is usually natural forms–rocks, flowers, trees, water and at times figures emerge. This techniqueusually results in a semi-abstract image, but this gives the viewersomething to interpret.
